Busy times :)

January 12, 2012 in Misc by Kristoffer

The new year has brought on a lot of great opportunities with even bigger possibilities.  I’ve been animating like crazy the past couple weeks and have been excited about the results.  Hopefully I’ll have more news about it later.

I’ve even had the opportunity to update and improve a large section of my website.  I finally got to flush out the all the information in the “About Me” sections, in addition to streamlining the “3d Production” area.  I’m been looking at the statistics on the site and I’m really excited to see the sites growth in unique views.  I’ve got a lot of great projects on my plate right now and I’ll try to get them up for you guys to see as soon as I can.

I hope the start of the new year is treating everyone well.  Talk to you guys soon!

Been Bitten

December 7, 2011 in 3d Animation by Kristoffer

Here’s another animation I did on my spare time.  It’s a dialogue piece that has some funny British humor.

For this one a used a well known Norman rig created by Leif Jeffers, Morgan Loomis, Peter Starostin, and Neal Thibodeaux

Ninja Slice 1

December 4, 2011 in 3d Animation, Featured by Kristoffer

A while ago I asked friends if I could have their characters to rig and create animations for my site. A friend gave me this female ninja character and I thought it might be cool to cut something in half. I figured the shot would be eye catching. After adding the VFX’s, it turned out to be a lot more “eye catching” then I expected haha. It pretty much a bloody mess.

What I’m attempting to do with this is create a small series of shots where this female ninja cuts the bad guy in half in various ways. This is the first shot from this series.

Maui – Paradise

November 22, 2011 in Featured, Travel, videography by Kristoffer

Maui was a great trip that took place from November 7th-14th 2011.  It was one of those things we had planned months ago, and managed to keep it secret from everybody including our friends and family.  This trip wouldn’t have been possible without our good friend Justin offering his place and showing us around.

Maui’s a beautiful island that’s full of unbelievable beaches, and old tourists.  Adventuring around the island was a pleasure.  We were lucky enough to drive the entire island.  From road to Hana, and into Iao Valley we made sure to see as much as humanly possible within our 7 day trip.  I’ve never seen a place as clean and well taken care of as Maui.

We captured our trip with our Nikon D7000, as well as our GoProHero2.  With a backpack full of gear we set out to see as much of the island as possible.  What you see is just a fraction of the great shots we were able to get.  It’s hard to believe that you don’t need a passport to go to such a beautiful place.  I know one thing’s for sure, and that is I won’t ever be able to enjoy the California beaches again…

Hope you like the video.  I cut it to paradise by Coldplay, I actually heard the song a week before we left and knew that it was the one.

Sneak Attack

November 8, 2011 in 3d Animation, Featured by Kristoffer

Here’s a quick animation I made using a few of my brothers blocking rigs. I actually made the animation a while back, but I was recently able to find all the files and clean it up a little more. It’s a shame the main character models were never completed because I would have really enjoyed polishing this animation to get a nice final shot.

Halloween Ecard

October 23, 2011 in Featured, videography, Visual Effects by Kristoffer

Here’s a Happy Halloween video I create for the holiday.

This is the second time I got to use a green screen. Don’t look at the fangs to hard.. they move a little bit, I couldn’t get the tracking prefect and didn’t have the time to do it all frame by frame.

The portal effect was learned by watching one of the new videocopilot tutorials. The blacked out eyes were black eyes motion tracked and blended to match the scene.

The kids were done using a combination of different filters.

the house, doors, and interior were all pictures found randomly online and edited in 3d space to give them a 3d feel.

First Timelapse – test

September 28, 2011 in timelapse, videography by Kristoffer

Don’t blink or you’ll miss it. Last night (September 21 2011) my girlfriend’s brother and I drove up into the mountains to practice shooting some time lapses. We ended stopping at Jackson Lake and setting up right there in the parking lot.

Had a lot of fun and learned a lot on what not to do. Both Huy and I were laughing about how we should’ve had a plan or at least practiced before we went out on this last minute trip.

This 5 second clip was taken over a 4hour period. Approximately 11pm-to 3am. Sadly I shot on intervals of 4mins, so once I had it on the computer the stars were flying by. Didn’t know the stars moved so fast. Next time I’ll try one minute. I knocked the frame rate down to 12 in an attempt to slow it down but it started the make the shot a little jumpy.

Camera used – Nikon D7000 with the AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED
Camera Settings – Exposure 25” , f2.8, ISO 400, Interval until we got tired (approx 4hrs)

Went to New York for President’s Weekend with friends. Had a great time and ate great food. I was shooting video all weekend and didn’t even get to use 3/4′s of what I filmed. I’ll probably post more videos of this trip down the line because of all the great extra footage I have.
